A REMARKABLE exhibition highlighting the journey of Victoria's most recognisable memorial is on display at the Ringwood library.
The inaugural History of the Shrine Travelling Exhibition aims to connect all Victorians to the Shrine of Remembrance and inform people of its history, significance and future direction.
Through the use of graphics and with content drawn from more than 80 years of archives, the exhibition explains the critical role the shrine has played in Victoria's social history since its inception in the 1920s.
The exhibition is complemented by an audiovisual presentation, including original footage from 1934 and 1954, and brings to light the importance and impact of Victorians at war and in peacekeeping.
Ringwood library branch manager Bern Nolen said the exhibition would give residents a better understanding of the role of the shrine in representing Australia's wartime experience, without having to travel into the city.
"The exhibition also offers the opportunity to learn more about the history of Victoria."
The History of the Shrine Travelling Exhibition is on display until June 30 at the Ringwood library, 4 Melbourne Street Mall.
