CruelToBeKind: Ringwood band's top of the rock

30 Aug, 2011 04:00 AM
RINGWOOD'S CruelToBeKind has rocked its way to victory at the Red Bull Backyard Jam.

The five-piece pop-punk band conquered the jam on August 13 after defeating more than 350 other hopeful bands on the Buzz Chart and three other finalists at a live gig in Eltham.

Lead guitarist Nick Sayer said the band, which has been together for only four months, was shocked by the win. "We are pretty rapt. Our competition was quite good and quite challenging. [For us] it means possibilities. It's a chance

to get a real foot in the door."

Comprising Sayers, Michael Romeo, Tim Kemm, Jonathan Deller and Dene Provenzale, the band will travel to Los Angeles in September to record at Red Bull's studios.
