RESIDENTS of Melbourne's outer east are invited to share a coffee with a Bayswater North community organisation.
After closing down earlier this year due to renovations, the Glen Park Community Cafe has now reopened.
A not-for-profit organisation, Glen Park offers a range of activities and education programs for people of all ages and backgrounds. Classes range from art and yoga through to support programs for people with disabilities.
Funds raised from its cafe will be invested in improving Glen Park's programs.
Cafe manager Nicci Matheson said the cafe had been a meeting place for the elderly and disabled in the community, but was also open to all residents.
"A lot of walking groups and mother groups come through here. It's child friendly."
With the cafe serving quality coffee and delicious food such as vegie burgers, Ms Matheson said residents could enjoy a good meal while helping out the centre.
"Funds will come back to the centre and give us the opportunity to host more groups. For example, we are trying to get a community garden going."
Ms Matheson said Glen Park played an important role in promoting social inclusion. "It's really important that people get out there. We have lots of different demographics in our community. Glen Park is a place where anyone can come and be equal, no matter what our background is."
