Grape expectations for scenic hills run

31 Aug, 2010 01:00 AM
HUNDREDS of people are expected to don their runners and head into the picturesque hills this weekend for the second annual Yarra Valley Grape Run.

Stunning scenery and a spectacular backdrop will inspire those taking part.

Event manager Fergus Floyd said the long course would run from River Street in Healesville to the Yarra Glen Recreational Reserve.

"The course challenges and inspires participants with its rolling hills and breathtaking vistas. By offering a 13-kilometre run, eight-kilometre run or a five-kilometre run/walk, there is something for everyone."

He said the event has been modelled on the South African Comrades marathon. "Last year the long course finished in Healesville, and next year will be the same."

Organisers expect more than 1200 people will take part in this year's run, which starts at 10am this Saturday.

Visit www.starttofinish .com.au for entry details or register from 8am on the morning of the event.
