RINGWOOD'S Family Mediation Centre will hold a seminar this month for grandparents affected by the separation or divorce of an adult child.
Family dispute resolution practitioner Des Devlin said the seminar would advise grandparents on how to maintain relationships with grandchildren after a separation.
"It is really just to get the information out there that grandparents can continue their relationships with their grandchildren after parents separate," he said.
"When parents separate, sometimes they overlook the relationships that children have with their grandparents."
The free seminar will give information on the best interests of children following a separation, the Family Law Amendment (Shared Parental Responsibility) Act 2006, legal options for grandparents, community supports and ways to strengthen the relationship between children and grandparents.
The seminar is at the Family Mediation Centre, 367 Maroondah Highway, Ringwood, from 10am-1pm on March 25. Bookings essential. Details: 9876 0677.
