Lilydale SES gets a flood of work

21 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
THE Lilydale SES was the busiest in the state during last Thursday's storms, receiving 31 calls for help.

Heavy rain and flash flooding caused chaos in many suburbs in Maroondah and the Yarra Ranges. SES spokesman Lachlan Quick said more than half the calls were for trees down over roads, with some bringing down power lines. In the most serious incident, a tree fell onto a house at Creek Road in Belgrave.

Across the state there were 190 requests for assistance, with most relating to trees down, causing traffic hazards and damage.
