The life and musical legacy of June Bronhill has inspired a tribute concert to the famous Australian soprano.
The Merry June Bronhill tribute concert uses a mix of opera, musical theatre and comedy to portray Bronhill's personality on and off the stage.
Producer and narrator Chris McKenna says the new Morning Music concert will feature many of Bronhill's hits from productions such as the Sound of Music, Pirates of Penzance and the Merry Widow.
"She became world famous for her role in the Merry Widow, particularly her performance of the Vilja Song, which became known as June's Tune," he said.
"She had a big effect on me and I thought it was about time we pay tribute to her in concert," McKenna said.
Sopranos Alison Rae Jones and Angela Hogan will perform musical works with support from musical director and pianist Len Vorster.
The Merry June Bronhill tribute concert will be staged at the Karralyka Theatre on February 14. For more information visit karralyka.com.au or call 98792933.
