HELP is at hand for Maroondah business owners when a business-mentoring service makes a stop in Ringwood tomorrow.
Travelling across Victoria, the 'office on wheels' offers free information, services and one-on-one advice to local business owners wanting advice.
Small Business Mentoring Service chief executive officer David Gregory said his organisation provided the van with semi-retired and retired volunteer mentors.
"We've had some amazing people ... we have the guy who started Autobarn and also the man who started Forty Winks," he said. "These are not your average business mentors, they have walked the walk."
Mr Gregory said mentors attempt to give business owners the tools to run a business. "We try to give them a helicopter view of the business and take them outside their four walls."
SBMS volunteers are available for 45-minute mentoring sessions for people who pre-book appointments on the day.
SBMS mentor Keith Irvine will be one of the volunteers ready to help when the van stops at Ringwood.
Mr Irvine said he tries to be practical and use common sense when giving advice. "We do see some turnarounds ... I've had some good results and lovely notes from people thanking me for the discussion," he said.
Mr Irvine said they could help small-business owners create plans to tackle problems such as cash flow, downturn, managing growth or excess stock.
The van will be open from 10am to 4pm at Eastland shopping centre tomorrow. For more information on the mobile business van or to book a free mentoring session, visit business.vic.gov.au/mbc or call 132 215.
