Shop talk: Eastland work begins

07 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
WORK to upgrade Ringwood's Eastland shopping centre has finally begun.

Queensland Investment Corporation started the redevelopment late last month: site sheds were moved into the area and heavy machinery started work at the Warrandyte Road entrance.

Early works include moving Kmart Tyre and Auto to the north-west car park off Ringwood Street, modifying the eastern multi-level car park, and upgrading electrical and mechanical services.

Maroondah Council issued the permit for the work last year. Plans for the upgrade have been on the cards since 2006.

Mayor Rob Steane said the redevelopment was great news for the community. "The start of these works is wonderful news for Maroondah community as this significant investment in early works at Eastland is a strong indication of what is still to come."
