 Storms hit Yarra Ranges

Storms hit Yarra Ranges

16 Feb, 2012 05:32 PM

THE Lilydale SES received more than 20 calls for help during this afternoon’s storms.

Heavy rain and flash flooding have caused chaos in many Melbourne suburbs. Kilsyth, Wandong North and Seville are so far among the hardest hit areas in the Yarra Ranges Shire.

SES spokesperson Lachlan Quick said more than half of the calls have been for trees down over roads, with some bringing down power lines.

He said a tree had also come down on a house in Belgrave. Mr Quick urged motorists against driving through flood waters.

Anyone needing assistance should call the SES on 132 500.
