Wild weather hits Maroondah

11 Jan, 2012 02:30 PM
WILD weather this morning has kept the Croydon SES unit busy, with 16 calls for help across Maroondah.

Several trees have fallen on roads, power lines and roofs across the municipality.

Croydon SES unit controller Kevin Poile said no large-scale damage had been reported so far, with no delays to traffic and only minor power outages limited to individual homes.

As of midday, there had been 426 SES requests across Melbourne, with the south-eastern suburbs the hardest hit.

Services on the Cranbourne and Pakenham train lines have been disrupted after a tree fell on the tracks at Sandown Park station, suspending all trips in both directions between Oakleigh and Dandenong.

Metro Trains said it was not yet known when normal services would resume.

There are also 15-minute delays in both directions on the Glen Waverley line after a tree fell across overhead power lines near Syndal station.
