THE Ringwood Hawks are one win away from completing a grand season in the Big V men's basketball championship division.
After a near-perfect regular season, the Hawks have already disposed of Hume City in a timely fashion during the finals, and will now play at home this Saturday night knowing that a win against Waverley will reap the ultimate reward.
For the record, Ringwood has played Waverley four times this season for a perfect four wins, including last Saturday night's 91-80 win in game one of a best-of-three grand final series.
The Hawks hit the court ready to play, racing to a 22-15 quarter-time lead, which ballooned to a 45-33 advantage by half-time.
Showcasing the depth that has set them apart from the rest all season, the Hawks went stride for stride with the Falcons during the second half, answering every challenge along the way.
Stalwart Luke McMillan was the centrepiece in the win, netting 26 points, grabbing eight rebounds and standing tall for three blocks. Mark Whitehead (14 points), Kevin Ratzsch (11 points, 14 rebounds), Luke O'Hea (12 points) and a returning Daryl Corletto (10) all chipped in.
The best for Waverley was guard Sedale Threatt, who rounded out a good game with 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
Game two will be played at Maroondah Indoor Sports Stadium on Canterbury Road at 8.15pm this Saturday.
If required, game three will be played at the same venue from 2.15pm on Sunday.
