Cricket tour planned around south-east Asia

THE Young Cricketers Development Program is hosting an information night for under-16 cricketers interested in playing in an international tournament during the April school holidays.

The program wants to take a touring side to Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Brunei based around competing in the international under-16 cricket tournament in Malaysia.

The tournament could include teams from England, New Zealand, India, Sri Lanka and South Africa and an American team. The final matches will be played in a Sri Lankan international stadiums that hosted matches at last year's ICC World Cup.

Program leader Vernon Tissera said the information night would be at Springvale South Cricket Club in Harold Road on Monday, January 30. Tissera said players from Melbourne's southern and eastern suburbs were welcome to attend.
