North, Norwood set pace

10 Nov, 2009 09:17 AM
ONLY three games into the new Ringwood and District Cricket Association season and already two teams have made an early break courtesy of unbeaten records.

Croydon North and Norwood are this season's early pacesetters and appear to be playing well enough to continue their current form ahead of the Christmas-New Year break.

Any doubts about Croydon North's resurgence were shot down by a smashing win against reigning premiers Wantirna South. Chasing 293, the Devils looked all at sea with a paltry 80 and 2/42.

Norwood had little trouble in disposing of perennial favourites North Ringwood (81), scoring 135 and 6/102.

Josh Barrett (109) was the star for South Warrandyte in its 111-run win over Croydon Ranges, while Mooroolbark (7/280) won a tough encounter against Bayswater Park (251).

South Croydon (126) remains without a win after losing heavily to third-placed Wonga Park (327).

Templeton (9/250) won a tight battle against Warranwood (9/242).
