IT'S not unusual for a coach to get a headache after his side has a disappointing day but Ringwood's Gavin Kellar was the sole cause of his headache during a Premier Cricket clash on Saturday.
The Rams playing coach gave himself a concussion after leaping for a catch which fielding on the Russell Lucas Oval centre square only to fall and hit his head.
The fall and subsequent concussion left Kellar dazed and confused, eventually leading to a hospital visit.
Kellar was feeling better on Sunday although still a little "flat" and "headachy'.
"I'm told I was nowhere near catching it either so what I did wasn't even worth it," he joked. "I can't remember much after hitting my head. Judging by the scorecard we didn't bat too well."
The Rams will resume this Saturday in a perilous position at 6-89 chasing the Roos 191.
One positive for the Rams is that opener David King (24 not out off 119 balls) is still at the crease with in-form all-rounder Blair Allan, and with Kellar, due to his concussion, demoting himself and set to come in next.
With 102 runs to go for a much-needed first-innings win, Kellar said the Rams were desperate to have a successful chase and build more confidence heading into the final rounds of the season. "Considering how close we have been in several games this year it would be fantastic for the boys if we could get a win.
"From where we were earlier in play we have probably allowed them 50-60 more runs than we would have wanted but it will be a good challenge to get them, we really just need one good partnership."
Earlier in the day, Allan was the chief destroyer for the Rams taking 5-33 while Ian Holland took 2-41 and King 2-29. The Rams will resume at Russell Lucas Oval, Ringwood, this Saturday at 11am.
