RINGWOOD District Cricket Association's under-14 side looks a likely contender for the Victorian Metropolitan Cricket Union under-14 Russell Allen Shield this week.

The under-14 side had won its first four matches and faced some tough battles early this week before the semi-finals on Friday and the final on Sunday.

Sam Power was the best-performed batsman in the first four games, making 110 runs at 27 and the best bowler was Jackson Guan, 11 wickets at 5.

The RDCA's under-12 Keith Mitchell Shield side also scored four wins from its first four matches.

Joel Nathan was the best-performed batsmen in the first four matches with 76 runs at 19 while Ben Palmer was the best-performed bowler with four wickets at 13.

The RDCA's under-16 Jim Beitzel Shield side is locked in a six-way tie for finals spots.

Sebastian Xantidis was the best batsman with 105 at 52 while Lachlan Hampton was the best bowler with eight wickets at 8.

The RDCA's under-16 Keith Mackay Shield team is in a slightly stronger position, sitting in third place, but will need more wins to take a finals spot. Blake Serzycki was best batsman with 150 runs at 150 while the best bowler was Robert Curley with 11 wickets at 5.

RDCA's Des Nolan Shield under-14 side had a tough start with one win from four matches.

Joel Bumpstead scored 84 runs at 21 to be his side's best batsman while Aaron Mott took seven wickets at 12.

The finals for all competitions begin on Thursday and the grand finals are on Sunday.
