WARRANWOOD'S good form continued with a hard-fought win over Wantirna South in the Ringwood District Cricket Association's Lindsay Trollope Shield on Saturday.
Batting first, the Sharks got a flier with Dave Johnson (122), Andy Wu (44) and Brett Van Duppen (19) racing to 2-209 before Ash Webb (3-48) applied the brakes, only to see Joel Cordwell (36 not out) and Todd Cordwell (23 not out) then combine at the end to have Warranwood amass 5-291.
Disaster struck in the run chase, with Matthew King out in the first over. Andrew Jorgensen (68), Michael McDonald (47) and Cam Smith (40) then tried hard to overhaul the target but finished 28 runs short at 9-263.
Tim Hall (3-44) had the best bowling figures.
South Croydon compiled 9-266 against Wonga Park with Travis Degenhardt (60), Cameron Carson (45 not out) and Ash Viney (40) top scoring. Wonga was never in the hunt against the bowling of Degenhardt (3-14) and Viney (3-20) and was dismissed for 130.
With the help of 39 wides and Brayden Clark (73), Mooroolbark totalled 9-209 against Croydon.
In reply, the Knights were all out for 134.
Having wickets left at the end of the innings was the difference in North Ringwood's last over win against Bayswater Park. The Sharks lost wickets consistently throughout the day to be dismissed for 185 in 44 overs.
North finished on 5-189.
East Ringwood made South Warrandyte's job easy by only batting 30 overs. The Roos lost wickets consistently to be all out for 111.
The Hawks finished at 2-115 in reply.
