Hot Tigers outclass winless Healesville

11 May, 2010 04:00 AM
UPWEY Tecoma has continued its undefeated streak, demolishing Healesville, which remains winless after four rounds of Yarra Valley Mountain District division 1 football.

Upwey Tecoma was relentless in attack, belting Healesville 29.19(193) to 12.6(78).

As expected, the Tigers didn't waste any time in making sure Healesville was in for a torrid day, booting seven first-quarter goals.

Healesville to its credit battled hard in the second term to match the Tigers' six-goal effort.

Unfortunately for the visitors, the second half was a copy of the first term, with Upwey Tecoma adding 16 goals to its tally, nine in the last quarter. The Tigers had 15 individual goalkickers in the 115-point thrashing.

In other matches, Mt Evelyn proved too good for Gembrook Cockatoo despite trailing for much of the game.

Mt Evelyn outlasted the Brookers 11.13(79) to 10.11(71).

Monbulk trounced Wandin 29.18(192) to 14.13(97).

The Hawks swooped on Wandin's inefficiencies in the first half, limiting the home side to nine goals while kicking 15 of their own.

The second half was similar to the first, with Monbulk kicking clear in what turned out to be a free-flowing end-to-end affair.

In division 2, Yarra Glen was too good for Thornton Eildon 22.13(145) to 11.8(74). The game was over at quarter-time with Yarra Glen booting eight goals to the visitors' three.

Undefeated Seville had to pull out all stops to beat Emerald 14.10(94) to 12.7(79).

Emerald pushed hard in the third quarter to take a two-goal lead. Seville rallied, kicking seven last-quarter goals to seal the match.
