Barkers hand out a drubbing

24 Aug, 2010 01:00 AM

MOOROOLBARK dominated its first visit to Macleay Park on Saturday with a 4-0 victory over bottom-placed Boroondara in Victorian provisional league division 1 south east.

The fourth-placed Barkers managed to break a two-game losing streak and ended their fourth successive away game on a positive note.

Barkers made an early breakthrough when, from a right-side corner, the ball was cleared to the edge of the area, where Andrew Cowie headed it into the net.

The Eagles' best chance was six minutes before the break, when a cross from the touchline found a forward at the far post with the goal at his mercy, but he pushed the ball wide.

At the break the Barkers were leading 1-0. Brechan Adams made it 2-0 in the 50th minute and Trent Hardcastle soon made it a 3-0 route and then put some serious gloss on the win with a goal in the dying moments of the game.
