PLANNING Minister Matthew Guy has told Tecoma residents there is nothing more he can do to stop a McDonald's restaurant from being built on the Burwood Highway.
Members of the Tecoma Village Action Group met Mr Guy last Thursday. TVAG president Nicole Gale said Mr Guy had "agreed the Dandenongs were a special place", but he could not do anything to change the decision of the VCAT.
Ms Gale added that Mr Guy had said he was happy to look into developing a protective planning overlay for the region, and the group would be having a follow-up meeting with his office.
The TVAG is keen to pursue this option further: "Irrespective of what happens next [with McDonald's], we don't want to have to have this fight again and again."
