LOCAL disability workers staged a protest at Warrandyte MP Ryan Smith's office last Thursday against proposed cuts to wages and conditions.
The workers were angered by possible cuts to qualification and shift allowances, as well as the axing of pay increments. Health and Community Services Union Victorian state secretary Lloyd Williams said this would create an exodus in the already under-resourced sector.
"Wage and training cuts of this magnitude undoubtedly will mean a percentage of workers will leave the service for other jobs where they can maintain their family income."
Ryan Smith's office could not be contacted before deadline.
