Re: Shed plan knockback

Despite all councillors agreeing that a Men's Shed would benefit the social structure of the community — the Scout Hall being acknowledged as extremely suitable — and despite the men's group offering to repair and maintain the building and grounds and passionate debate by some councillors, the motion was lost three to six.

The three female councillors all voted against.

It is indeed interesting that the majority of councillors would rather demolish a $200,000 building than make it available to house a Men's Shed. I wonder what the outcome would have been to a proposal to house a breast cancer or female community support group?

Re: No myna matter

Poor Indian mynas! They didn't bring themselves here. They were introduced to deal with 'insect pests'. Another failed solution, like cane toads and rabbits. All introduced to Australia by human beings.

Australia's most significant pest? Sorry, folks, that mantle must fall squarely on the shoulders of the two-legged pest: homo sapiens.
