Fires broke out in Wonga Park and Selby on Friday as sweltering conditions were felt all over the state. Nine trucks were sent to contain a 1½-hectare fire on Old Menzies Creek Road, Selby, at 11.30am.
Shortly after being upgraded to 'bushfire' status, the fire was contained by the CFA and Department of Sustainability and Environment. Eight vehicles were sent to Homestead Road in Wonga Park at 1pm to contain a grass and shrub fire. The fire was quickly brought under control.
