Maroondah Hospital has been forced to close its diabetes education unit as it continues to bear the federal government's $475 million health budget cuts. The work of the unit, educating diabetes patients and providing group and individual consultations, is now being referred to Ringwood, Ferntree Gully and Lilydale hospitals.
