PATRONS of the run-down North Ringwood Community House can expect a decision on its future soon.
Maroondah mayor Nora Lamont and chief executive Frank Dixon confirmed that while the item is currently confidential, the council would have an announcement shortly.
"We've known for a long time that the facility needs upgrading and we've been working with them [NRCH committee] to sort it out," Cr Lamont said.
"We're at the stage where we're getting there — we'll have something soon."
It is not known whether the council will relocate the community house to another facility.
The Weekly reported in April last year that the building was in a poor state and was struggling to cater for more than 2000 members.
The NRCH is the last independent community house in Maroondah.
The community house is different to others in the area, being the only one to offer accredited vocational education and training as well as special interest classes such as Auslan, the language of the deaf community.
