IF polo is the sport of kings, make way for royalty in the east this weekend. Country polo is returning to the Yarra Valley.
The annual Flowerfield and Coldstream Cup competitions will be played at Flowerfield polo grounds in Coldstream, with organisers keen to attract spectators from across the region to watch the action and sample some of the best local food and wine.
Club spokeswoman Priscilla Gorton encouraged visitors to spend Saturday or Sunday watching the matches, with international and local players coming to take part.
"This is not like Portsea Polo; it's country polo and a great day out for family and friends," she said.
Local food and wine producers will have their products available with a variety of marquees available to rent.
A picnic area is also available where people can put down a picnic rug and get a good view of the action. There will be pony rides and other family activities.
On Saturday, matches will sort out which teams play the next day in the finals.
Admission to the tournament is $20.
Flowerfield polo course is at 23-27 Coldstream West Road, Coldstream.
