RDCA: Devils burst into grand final

WANTIRNA South will battle South Croydon in this weekend's RDCA Lindsay Trollope Shield grand final after beating North Ringwood in the preliminary final on Sunday.

Wantirna South's Wayne Ross (6-51) demolished North Ringwood's batsmen to see them score only 144 off 75 overs.

Michael Scott (36) and Matt Stoikos (30) were the only two Bulls batsmen to get going.

In reply, Wantirna South lost Matthew King early and dropped Andrew Jorgenson (56 not out) on 3 and John Aumann (47) on 0.

These chances proved costly and allowed the Devils to finish on 3-146.

After leading the competition for most of the year, North Ringwood dropped its last five games for a disappointing end to the season.

South Croydon will play Wantirna South at Walker Reserve, Wantirna South this Saturday and Sunday.

In Wilkins Cup, Montrose won the toss, batted and hit the Kilsyth bowlers to all parts of the ground.

Andy Mirams (96) and Kieran Perkins (48) shared a first-wicket partnership of 120.

Daniel Carratelli (60) and Michael Edwards (59) then shared a third wicket partnership of 90 to finish their 80 overs at 6-298.

In reply, Kilsyth made 198, with Michael Edwards (4-42) the main wicket taker.

Montrose will now take on St Andrews at Cheong Park, South Croydon this weekend.

In Newey Plate, red-hot favourites Chirnside Park must have had heart palpitations when it lost wickets at regular intervals to be dismissed for 162 against Olinda.

The Parkers' bowlers had other ideas, with Shane Walliker (5-19) and Rob Clarke (4-17) decimating Olinda's batting to see them record 91 all out.

Chirnside Park will now play Wantirna South at Guy Turner Reserve, Bayswater in the grand final.
