THE latest photography exhibition at the Maroondah Art Gallery certainly has a fitting title.
Freeze! explores the direction in contemporary photography, showing the way different stories, each telling a thousand words, can emerge from a single shot.
The exhibition features works by
international and Australian photograph artists.
The photographs create imagined scenes that depict Australian identity, politics and the human condition.
Works from galleries and museums in Melbourne and Sydney are also on loan.
Freeze! is being held in conjunction with Suspended Frames - a range of staged photographs created by local youth.
Students from Croydon Maroondah
Secondary College, Tintern Schools and
Aquinas College took part in extension workshops teaching photography skills and
studied the Freeze! photographs.
Both exhibitions are open 10am-4pm Tuesday-Friday and noon-4pm Saturday at the Maroondah Art Gallery, 32 Greenwood Avenue, Ringwood, until May 5. Details: 92984545.
