A 25-YEAR-old Croydon man is recovering in hospital after being stabbed during an attempted armed robbery in Bayswater North early last Wednesday.
Police said a man entered a BP service station on Bayswater Road shortly after 3am and made demands for cash.
He then leaned over the counter and stabbed a male staff member’s upper body before fleeing the store empty-handed. The assailant was seen running north along Bayswater Road.
The service station worker was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives are reviewing CCTV footage and would like to speak to anyone with any information about the incident.
The offender is described as being 175 centimetres, Caucasian, aged about 20, with a medium build, black hair and clean-shaven.
