A 27-year-old Ferntree Gully man has been charged with 31 offences, including attempted murder, following dramatic scenes in Croydon last Monday .
The man, who was wanted by police, was spotted in Croydon with another male in a four-wheel-drive. Police then surrounded the area.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers tried to stop the four-wheel-drive in Sherlock Road, Croydon, about 11.30am.
The men managed to drive the car through the police cordon, and allegedly drove the vehicle directly at police, forcing officers to fire shots.
The men drove off and plunged down an embankment onto the Lilydale railway line before being arrested. Buses replaced trains for some hours while police assessed the scene. A 30-year-old Montrose man has been released pending further inquiries.
