Birmingham Primary School grade 2 pupil Ruby was one of 60 children who swapped pencils and pens for racquets and bats as part of the Prime Minister's Olympic Challenge last Thursday.
The pupils tried their hands at badminton and table tennis at the Kilsyth Sports Centre.
The budding athletes were overseen by local coaches and staff from the Australian Sports Commission and rewarded with a gold, silver, bronze or participation certificate. The initiative aims to create stronger links between schools and sports clubs.
