EFL: Norsemen out in straight sets

EASTERN Football League division 1 minor premiers Norwood went out of the finals in straight sets, losing to Balwyn in the preliminary final on Saturday.

The Norsemen lost to Vermont in the major semi-final, forcing a meeting with the in-form Tigers, who beat Noble Park and Scoresby in their previous two elimination finals matches.

After a tightly contested three quarters, the Tigers pushed out to a lead in the final term and held steady, beating the Norsemen 10.9 (69) to 7.7 (49) at Bayswater Oval.

Norseman Stuart Hill was named best for his side.

The Tigers will now take on Vermont in the EFL division 1 grand final at Bayswater Oval this Saturday at 2.30pm. Knox Falcons will play Vermont in the reserves grand final while Lilydale will play Scoresby in the under-19 grand final.
