Puppets pull the heart-strings

ASPIRING puppeteers will have the chance to discover the art of puppetry during the Sox N Stories Puppetry Festival held this weekend in Mount Evelyn.

Melbourne's finest puppetry talents and creative entertainment will be in full swing at this festival designed for the whole family to enjoy.

The festival begins on Friday night with an opening night performance by the Curious Legends Theatre Company from 6.30pm.

The Curious Legends are an independent theatre and production company based in Melbourne. Their work ranges from performance workshops to inspiring theatre performances and larger-scale arts festivals.

The roving puppeteers will be performing their show The SandDragon's Tale.

On Saturday, there will be creative puppetry workshops for all ages running from 9am until 5pm.

The festival will have a family fun, carnival atmosphere with roving entertainers, face painters for children, hula-hoop dancers, carnival-inspired food from popular local vendors and live puppets galore.

Sox N Stories Puppetry Festival is on at Yarra Hills Secondary College theatre, Mt Evelyn Campus, Old Hereford Road.
