A GAS bottle deliberately made to look like a homemade bomb was discovered on a Croydon doorstep this morning.
Police were called to a Croydon residence off Dorset road where distressed nearby occupants reported finding an LPG gas cylinder with wires hanging off it at the front door.
The Victoria Police bomb squad was called in and used a bomb disposal robot to help deem the area safe.
Croydon police have taken the bottle away for fingerprinting.
Police believe the gas bottle was placed there to scare the resident of the house, however neighbours have told the Weekly they thought the house was vacant.
Police blocked off northbound traffic on Dorset Road between Leigh Road and Mt Dandenong Road, but have now reopened the road for all traffic.
