JUST a handful of aspiring councillors have signed up to a women's health and safety action plan.
The document, entitled Victorian local government action plan for women's health, was distributed to council candidates by Women's Health East and the Regional Family Violence Partnership. Candidates are not bound by their commitment to the plan but agree to several principles that may guide them if they are elected to council.
Women's Health East chief executive Kristine Olaris says she emailed all candidates running for election in Yarra Ranges and Maroondah and invited them to make a commitment to the ideas in the policy document.
The candidates who committed are Nora Lamont, Samantha Marks, Joshua Reimer, Jennifer Newman and Mary-Anne Lowe.—Patrick Hutchens
