Woman charged over fatal crash
Police have charged a 35-year-old woman with culpable driving after a collision in Bayswater North on Sunday left a man dead. Leeann Gomez, of Bayswater North, was arrested as she allegedly attempted to flee the scene of the collision. She was later taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries. Police allege Gomez was driving city-bound along Canterbury Road in Bayswater North when she attempted to turn right into Greenhill Road. A 35-year-old Croydon man was travelling north-east on Canterbury Road when the vehicles collided. He was airlifted to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition but died shortly after. Gomez appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court last week. She was not granted bail and was ordered to reappear in court in January. Information to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
