The buck stops here
If there's one question candidates were loath to answer in the Weekly's survey it was this: what is your campaign budget and who is funding it? Most declared their budgets to be self-funded and "minimal" or "modest". Of the handful who openly stated exact figures, Streeton ward candidate Mike Clarke and Ryrie ward's Di Moore had the largest budgets at $2500. Chirnside ward candidate Andy Witlox had the smallest, at $200. Other declared figures ranged from $1000 to $2000.
The deadline
Don't forget, all postal votes must be returned by 6pm this Friday , ready for counting this weekend. Voting is compulsory for most people on the electoral roll but optional for those aged over 70 or those who own a property in Yarra Ranges and live outside the region. People who fail to vote will be fined. Computer counting starts on Sunday and the official results will be out by 10am Monday.
