Mt Evelyn man, 77, killed and Olinda man among injured in light-plane crash

A MAN  killed in a plane crash near Bendigo yesterday was a 77-year-old from Mt Evelyn.

A 65-year-old Olinda man and 75-year-old Boronia man were also seriously injured in the accident and taken to hospital.

An Australian Transport Safety Bureau spokeswoman confirmed the plane, a single-engine Cessna 172, hit a powerline and burst into flames on impact. 

Police would not release names of the killed or injured men.

ATSB investigators are expected to be at the site for the rest of the week.
